Pseudoscorpion Mimicking Spider by melvynyeo Pseudoscorpion Mimicking Spider by melvynyeo
Found a small jumping spider that mimic Pseudoscorpion. When we first spotted it, we thought it was a Pseudoscorpion until it jumps! Why would a spider mimic a Pseudoscorpion????

A spider pretending to be a pseudoscorpion? That's a pseudo pseudo scorpion! Mimiception!! Sure is funny looking. Pretty cool with the big arms. Nice shot!

Idk maybe the spider digged the pseudoscorpion converted pedipalps...

Or its father was a pseudoscorpion.

or it had a teleporter accident with a pseudoscorpion.

So many theories. so little time.

Its abdomen is much skinnier than a pseudoscorpion... perhaps it's a scorpion mimic??

And then it will put on Aesop-fable-based plays with the ant mimicking jumper!

I found one of these on some timber in my yard last year, I rushed in and grabbed my camera and got a video of it, www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8bVQZ... it was quite interesting watching it run around.

Why indeed.

Has this species been formally identified yet?

Must be a spider, right, because if it's a pseudoscorpion it's missing two legs. Good find! :)

I can't explain that, either. Pseudoscorpions are neither especially armoured nor do they have a special defense or foul taste. But maybe it's a way to get close to prey which would rather flee from a jumping spider rather than a pseudoscorpion.

Thats awesome. I wonder why theyd do that. A psuedoscorpion has no benefits so not to catch prey. Maybe to keep things away from it? No clue.
